Fifteen years in gambling and payments, most of it in-house as CLO or Head of Legal, and since 2024 on my own account. The short version: I get companies licensed in places that are difficult, and I sort out what goes wrong afterwards.

1. September 2024 — present

   Managing Partner

   DeBuro · London

   Running the firm: strategic direction, client relationships, and a small team. LATAM is the primary market, Africa the secondary one. Day to day this means licensing and market entry work for operators and payment companies, plus the structuring and AML frameworks that sit underneath it.

2. January 2024 — present

   Business Development Officer

   Aquasphinx Ltd.

   Client acquisition and market expansion for the firm's regulatory practice, with a focus on payments: MSB registrations, EMI and PI authorisations, and the compliance work that follows them.

3. June 2022 — September 2024

   Chief Legal Officer

   1win

   Licensing, tax planning, corporate governance and international expansion, with a legal team of 25+. Opened offices from scratch in Mexico City, Warsaw, São Paulo, Lagos and Limassol, and obtained gaming licences in Nigeria, Mexico, Kahnawake, Anjouan and Curaçao. Grew the team sixfold inside a year.

   Also led the litigation side: corporate conflicts, employment matters, and dealings with regulators — including a contested matter against a major listed operator that we won.

4. June 2019 — February 2023

   Chief Legal Officer

   Alpha Affiliates

   Legal and IP strategy for a $20m company. Built the AML framework to the Fifth AML Directive (EU 2018/843), advised on international regulatory compliance, and managed licensing in Curaçao, Malta, Romania and South Korea. Worked across BVI, Cyprus, UAE and Maltese structures, and ran the legal, labour and accounting functions.

5. October 2018 — June 2019

   Head of Legal

   Bookmaker Ratings

   Built and managed the corporate structure across Cyprus and Armenia. Contracts, advertising law, claim management, and IP — particularly licensing and software.

6. September 2016 — October 2018

   Legal Counsel

   Urban Group Development

   Corporate law: incorporations, reorganisations, dissolutions, register updates. Dealings with the Central Bank, support for entities in Cyprus, the BVI and Liechtenstein, and disputes with authorities and banks.
